Gold Tone has improved on the OB-250 dramatically by adding many unique features reserved for only the highest-quality banjos.
The JLS Tone Ring is a replica of the Gibson tone ring used in the Granada models in the 1930s. The maker, from Texas, has analyzed an original tone ring and duplicated the exact specifications. When electronically tested for pitch, sustain, and ring, it equals the original. It also has a slightly longer skirt which provides more contact with wood rim and provides direct contact with the heel of the neck. The neck is attached with a conventional hanger bolt going through a hole at the edge of the tone ring. This method provides an extremely tight fit and maximum heel contact with tone ring.
Note: Our banjos are individually inspected, set up and tuned by the banjo.com staff in Georgia. We are banjo players, so we set them up the way we want to play them! Each banjo is in tune when we carefully pack it for shipment. Climate conditions and travel will affect the tuning, so it may need to be fine-tuned before playing. |
