Gold Tone has improved on the OB-250 dramatically by adding many unique features reserved for only the highest-quality banjos. Gold-plated in Florida, USA. The JLS Tone Ring is a replica of the Gibson tone ring used in the Granada models in the 1930s. The maker, from Texas, has analyzed an original tone ring and duplicated the exact specifications. When electronically tested for pitch, sustain, and ring, it equals the original. It also has a slightly longer skirtwhich provides more contact with wood rim and provides direct contact with the heel of the neck. The neck is attached with a conventional hanger bolt going through a hole at the edge of the tone ring. This method provides an extremely tight fit and maximum heel contact with tone ring.

Note: Our banjos are individually inspected, set up and tuned by the banjo.com staff in Georgia. We are banjo players, so we set them up the way we want to play them! Each banjo is in tune when we carefully pack it for shipment. Climate conditions and travel will affect the tuning, so it may need to be fine-tuned before playing.

  • Coordinator Rod Adjuster: A simple barrel-style nut is attached to the outer coordinator rod which can be easily adjusted for slight string action adjustments
  • Brian Hooper Intonated Custom Bridge; the maple on this bridge is quality-select and has aged for at least 100 years.
  • Neck to Body Mount: the neck is raised slightly higher on the banjo body. This provides a wider space between head and strings when picking close to fingerboard for comfort and eliminates the picks from striking the head
  • Deluxe Case: includes TKL Deluxe arched top case with plush velour padding, lock, padded handle and perfect fit
  • Nut adjustment: grooves are cut 1/2 thickness of string, which prevents string binding. Provide better use of Keith-style tuners.
