I originally bought a Johnson starter mandolin and wasted my money doing so. One Sunday I went to Banjo.com to look around for the first time and saw this mandolin on the wall. Played it and bought it. The all solid mahogany construction makes for a very mellow playing mandolin. Excellent tone. The volume is not as loud as a spruce top model but is still very nice. I took the stock strings off and put a set of GHS A250 Light strings on it and the volume improved significantly. The action is good and I have not adjusted the neck. The satin finish is beautiful on this mandolin. I really like the single tailpiece as I don't trust the two piece talipieces.
I added a McClung armrest which really improved my playing position.
The Banjo.Com price is comparable to anywhere else.
