This custom RK-R80 includes a Tony Pass "Schaeffer" sunken-birch block rim, assembled and set up by Mark Bramlett, general manager at Banjo.com. The idea for this extraordinary banjo was born during a conversation between Mark Bramlett and Tony Pass at the 2009 IBMA event. After Mark played a Shaeffer-equipped banjo with a stock RK tone ring, he was impressed with the tone and volume of the instrument. He decided to offer a modified version of the RK-R80 with the Shaeffer rim. This is a custom banjo. Each one is hand-assembled at our shop in Georgia. Ships about 5 days after order.
Designed by Greg Rich, the standard R80 bluegrass banjo features classic pre-war styling, recalling the most supremely crafted banjos from the Golden Age of musical instruments. Now available in left- and right-handed models.
The R80 offers a pre-war (WWII) sound at an affordable price. Product designer Greg Rich developed and monitors production of these models, with quality control standards set by Scott Zimmerman. Recording King artist Todd Taylor, who used the resonator banjo on his latest record 3-FIVE-N, says "these banjos are just out of this world.
Note: Our banjos are individually inspected, set up and tuned by the banjo.com staff in Georgia. We are banjo players, so we set them up the way we want to play them! Each banjo is in tune when we carefully pack it for shipment. Climate conditions and travel will affect the tuning, so it may need to be fine-tuned before playing. |
